Expiring Points

As we approach the end of the year, we have many Owners that may have Vacation Club Points that have not been used and are about to expire. Fortunately the Marriott Vacation Club Destinations program has many options to help an Owner use their Vacation Club Points before the end of their Use Year.

Your conversation with the Owner is the key to help the Owner choose the best option for them. Your Owner may not think they can take another vacation before the end of the year, but they may not realize they can use their points for a long weekend or just a few nights within driving distance. Look at the locations that may be close to where the Owner lives, there are city escapes and hotels that may be possible for the Owner to book.

Before offering the following options to the Owner, view the rules and read through any terms and conditions for each option to be sure that you are giving the Owner all of the information needed.

Golf Certificates

One great thing about using the expiring Vacation Club Points for Golf Certificates is the certificates are good for one year from purchase date and are also transferable.

External Exchange Credit

External Exchange Credit is another good option for the Owner to use their expiring Vacation Club Points. There are a few rules such as, it may not be canceled, the Owner is responsible for the fees with Interval International and this is an external exchange, they may not stay at a Marriott property.

Airfare

Remember that with airfare, it is the current usage years Vacation Club Points that will be used making expiring Vacation Club Points ideal for this option. Booking airfare with Vacation Club Points is not cancelable and important to discuss that with the Owner if offering this option.
