Costa del Sol

The Legendary Costa del Sol on the southern coast of Spain boasts two of our most beautiful Marriott Vacation Club resorts, Marriott's Playa Andaluza and Marriott's Marbella Beach Resort. If you're looking for beautiful landscapes, fantastic water sports, renowned beaches and delicious food, discover Spain.

Surrounded by the sea on one side and rugged mountain cliffs on the other, this area of Spain has a micro-climate with over 325 days of sunshine per year, making it a popular year-round destination: it also has two Blue Flag beaches, certified by the Foundation for Environment Education, that meet stringent standards for water quality, safely and environmental education. If your Owners need a change of scenery from the beach, they can take a gorgeous hike in the Montes de Malaga Natural Park. The park is a landscape of gentle topography, crisscrossed by small valleys and extensive pine forests.

Activities

Once they have checked into their villa, Owners and Members can step out on their balcony and enjoy the beautiful weather as they gaze out over the Mediterranean Sea or the beautifully manicured resort gardens. After a restful night they will be ready to venture out of the resort and experience Spain.

Costa del Sol features more than 70 golf courses, making it the leading golf destination in Europe. Designed by Antonio Garcia Garrido, Flamingos Golf Course is a beautiful 18 hole course and is one of three golf courses in Villa Padierna Golf Club. The course boasts beautiful landscapes with a variety of trees and unforgettable views of the Mediterranean Sea. The Greens are generous in size with bunkers filled with crushed white marble sand. In 2010, Flamingos Golf Course hosted the 2010 Spanish Women's Open.

Attractions

Owners will need their passport to take a tour of the Rock of Gibraltar as it is British territory, but it is certainly worth the effort. One of the Pillars of Hercules known as the edge of the ancient world, it has an extraordinary history and many points of interest. From the Moorish Castle to St. Michael's Cave, there is plenty to see and do during a day's trip.

Owners will return home to friends and family with stories of fast boats, beautiful water and intense fishing action if they charter a yacht, a great way to get up close and personal with the sea of Costa del Sol. Nautica Marbella is a luxury yacht charter company that has been chartering boats for more than 20 years. They can cruise around the Mediterranean Sea in style while trolling for big game fish, such as tuna, sword fish or pez zorro on the Rodman 41 Fly, a 43 foot yacht.

Resorts

Marriott's Playa Andaluza and Marriott's Marbella Beach Resort both offer spaciously designed one, two and three bedroom suites. The resorts offer fitness centers, complimentary fitness classes and beautiful swimming pools with the MAZE® Kid's Club and activity zone. They also both offer a wide range of activities from sailing and snorkeling to hiking, biking or horseback riding.

Marriott's Marbella Beach Resort

Marriott's Marbella Beach Resort is the first Marriott Vacation Club resort built in Spain and is still the largest. They offer several on-site dining options with mouthwatering American fare at Charlie's RestoBar or divine Mediterranean fare at El Med and a variety of daily activities and events. This resort is a great option for active families of all ages. They are also close to the town of Malaga with many other options for dining and nightlife. Marbella offers one, two and three bedroom villa choices.

Marriott's Playa Andaluza

Marriott's Playa Andaluza Resort has similar villa accommodations but is a bit quieter and more relaxed. The resort offers an on property Spa with many services ranging from Facials, Manicures/Pedicures or massages for the parents as well as activities for smaller children. While not as close to the larger cities, it is a great way to get away from it all.

Whichever resort our Owners choose to visit, they will be sure to have a wonderful, relaxing sun-drenched time on the Costa del Sol.
