History

Marriott Vacation Club PulseSM, San Diego is a new, stylish downtown retreat and an ideal central location for exploring all that San Diego has to offer including the bustling Gaslamp Quarter with its colorful array of award-winning restaurants, Balboa Park's museums and cultural venues and the legendary San Diego Zoo. The resort was previously The Declan Suites San Diego and was known for being San Diego's premier all-suite hotel and is located just north of the Gaslamp District. Marriott Vacations Worldwide acquired this property in early 2016. The highly anticipated Marriott Vacation Club PulseSM, San Diego is now taking reservations for arrivals beginning July 1, 2016. The suites and all public spaces will be completely remodeled by August 2017 to reflect the Marriott Vacation Club standard.

Suite and Resort Amenities

This newly acquired resort consists of 264 suites including king suites, double suites and connecting 2-room suites (comprised of a king suite and a double suite). The city view option is offered for the king suites only. None of the rooms have a full kitchen; therefore we do not refer to these rooms as villas but rather as suites. The suites have a refreshment area complete with a sink, dishwasher, microwave, mini refrigerator with freezer, and dishes. This is perfect for the nights when you don't want to go out and simply want to relax in the comfort of your room. You can use the refreshment area amenities to warm up your leftovers from one of the amazing restaurants nearby.

Living Room

Marriott Vacation Club PulseSM, San Diego boasts the refined wood and metal finishes of the Gaslamp Quarter, blending historic and contemporary design perfectly. The resort offers many amenities including a fitness center, indoor pool and whirlpool spa, activity center, ATM and free high speed internet. Guests can pick up a quick snack at the Marketplace Express. After a day of sight-seeing guests can visit the Shake Lounge located on the 12th floor and enjoy the full service bar and light fare. Self-parking and valet parking are both available for a fee.

Local Activities and Attractions

Gaslamp Quarter

The Marriott Vacation Club PulseSM, San Diego is inspired by the Gaslamp Quarter, which is a 16 block historical neighborhood in downtown San Diego. The Gaslamp Quarter is just steps from the resort and is home to museums and art galleries. If history is of interest you can visit the Gaslamp Museum at the William Heath Davis House (the oldest residence in the Gaslamp Quarter) or the San Diego Philippine Library & Historical Heritage Museum. If you prefer fine art, there are six unique galleries to satisfy your artistic tastes.

The Gaslamp Quarter also boasts several fun boutiques, providing the opportunity to pick up unique clothing, accessories, jewelry and even souvenirs. Nightlife in the Gaslamp Quarter has something for everyone including nightclubs and a huge array of award winning restaurants and rooftop bars. Cuisine from all around the world can be found within walking distance of the resort. The most popular restaurant in the Gaslamp Quarter is Searsucker, where celebrity chef Brian Malarkey of TLC's Mega Bites and Bravo's Top Chef puts a twist on classic American cuisine favorites. Among his specialties are Cheeks Goat Cheese Dumplings and Ribeye Tomahawk with cognac and horseradish. Other amazing restaurants include Oceanaire Seafood Room where you can enjoy the freshest catch, Bandar Restaurant serving exotic Persian cuisine, and La Puerta famous for street tacos and freshly squeezed margaritas.

San Diego Zoo

Also located in the Gaslamp Quarter is the famed San Diego Zoo where Owners can view over 3,700 animals of more than 650 species and subspecies. San Diego Zoo is one of the few zoos in the world that houses and successfully breeds the giant panda. Make sure to stop in and enjoy the Early Morning with Pandas Tour while you are there.

Another nearby attraction is Balboa Park which is home to 17 museums, 9 performing arts venues and 19 different gardens. There is also a golf complex, tennis courts, hiking and biking trails, dog parks, and restaurants. This is a great place to spend a day with family, enjoying the play areas, arts, natural beauty and fun. A must see while in San Diego is Seaport Village, a waterfront dining, shopping, and entertainment complex. Their historic carousel was hand carved in 1895 and is still delighting children and adults alike. Both Balboa Park and Seaport Village can be accessed by a short trolley ride. The trolley stop is minutes from the front door of our resort and lends easy access to all the delights of the city. The San Diego International Airport is a mere 3.3 miles from our new resort.
