Oscar and Phyllis Briones from California used their Ownership to learn how to snowboard together. Here’s their story:
In 2008, my wife and I used our Marriott Vacation Club timeshare to take a dream vacation to beautiful Lake Tahoe. We planned a trip several months in advance, so we had no idea what the conditions would be like. We were both relatively new to snowboarding, so we didn’t know exactly what that would be like either. Turns out the weather was perfect. Just enough snow. Just enough sun. Gorgeous views of Lake Tahoe. We took lessons and improved our snowboarding quite a bit. We have since become hooked on snowboarding. Lake Tahoe is the ideal place for families to snowboard. The lift is a few steps from the door of the Marriott’s Timber Lodge®.
Marriott’s Timber Lodge is perfectly located in the heart of South Lake Tahoe. One day, when it was too windy for the lifts to operate, we were able to explore all of South Lake Tahoe and take our chances at a casino game or two. We didn’t win much of anything but felt like high rollers before we walked back to the resort. This was one of our favorite vacations ever. We are already in the process of planning another one with the whole family. This photo was taken at the top of one of the mountains on the California side of Heavenly Mountain Resort. The name speaks for itself.
Owners Camie and Jason Sorenson of California rang in the New Year while on vacation with their extended family:

Multiple-week Owners Gerard and Roberta Jugant (my parents) used their Vacation Club Points to host a reunion of East Coast cousins with West Coast cousins. All 10 grandchildren and their parents along with Grandma and Grandpa Jugant gathered at Park City’s Marriott’s MountainSide resort for a week of family festivities.
Ranging in age from 20 months to 11 years old, the bicoastal cousins bonded over a range of activities including ski and snowboard lessons, family sledding, relaxing in the whirlpool spa, a piñata bash, hexbug competitions, dance parties and seeing the Temple Square lights in Salt Lake City. The highlight of the week was welcoming the 2012 New Year with all 10 kids loaded on a luggage cart. (This finale celebration was done at midnight EST so bedtimes were still met!)
The only problem with the trip? The kids keep asking Grandma and Grandpa, ‘Can we do it again next year?’
