This month, Agatha tells you what you need to know about reservation windows and cancellation policies.

When can I reserve a stay at a Club Resort Property or Club Connections location?
Your booking window depends on the length of stay you'll be reserving:

7 nights or more: 365 days before check-in
3 – 6 nights: 180 days before check-in
1 – 2 nights: 90 days before check-in

Premier Plus Members may reserve any length of stay up to 395 days before check-in.

Keep in mind that Club Connections reservations are not always available a full year in advance, and reservations at Club Resorts and Club Connections locations are based on availability.

If I need to cancel my reservation, how long do I have to do that?
You may cancel your reservation for a full refund of Club Points within these cancellation windows, depending on your length of stay:

7 nights or more: Up to 30 days before check-in
1 – 6 nights: Up to 15 days before check-in

Keep in mind that if you cancel your reservation after these deadlines, you will not receive a refund of Club Points, unless you cancel within 24 hours of making the reservation.

Which Marriott Vacation Club or Marriott property has been your favorite to visit? Why?
Marriott's Phuket Beach Club is my favorite place. It is a great place to relax for any weekend getaway. I also managed to spend quality time with family and friends there. The resort offers a lot of activities that are suitable to everyone.

Which Marriott Vacation Club or Marriott property do you hope to visit in the future? Why?
I would love to visit Marriott Vacation Club℠ at Surfers Paradise. I want to enjoy the beautiful man-made beach available on that property. I've heard so many great reviews from fellow associates and Members. The location is convenient and is a walking distance to the beach and dining places.

What has been your favorite holiday to plan for Members? Why?
Once when I was planning a Member's trip to South Africa. Our conversation became interesting as I learned a lot of new and exotic places that can be useful for my future holiday plans. I have learned that the majority of the Marriott-branded-hotels in South Africa require fewer Marriott Rewards points to redeem.

Is there anything else you'd like to share with or tell Members?
I would like to advise Members to plan their holiday earlier to secure a room for your vacation to avoid any disappointment.

As a Member, you may choose offerings from the world's most popular cruise lines, such as Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Norwegian and Celebrity†. Standard cruises are 3,500 Club Points and Premier Plus Exclusive cruises are 6,500 Club Points per stateroom, based on double occupancy, plus an additional variable cash amount per person, depending on the cruise.

Visiting Hong Kong

If you're planning to holiday in Hong Kong to enjoy one of the city's exciting festivals, keep in mind these tips for making the most of your stay:

  • For your electronics, bring the type G British three-pin rectangular plug adapter and keep in mind before charging that the voltage is 220 volts.
  • Bring clothing you can layer — even when the temperature is hot, the air conditioning indoors can be harsh.
  • For convenience, you may want to purchase a prepaid Octopus debit card for use toward public transportation and participating merchants such as convenience stores, restaurants, supermarkets and more. You may even get a discount on purchases.
  • Wear comfortable shoes, because you'll be spending a lot of time on your feet — the city tends to be fast paced, and the sidewalks don't usually offer benches or seating.
  • If you shop at one of the city's popular markets, be prepared to haggle to get a good deal.
  • Spitting and littering are offences subject to a HK$1,500 fine, and smoking is prohibited at most restaurants and train stations.
