This month, Nozomi shares how you can use your Club Points to enjoy an Express Breaks getaway at a Club Resort Property.

What is Express Breaks?
Express Breaks is paid stays at Club Resorts Properties starting from US$50 that you can enjoy without using Club Points. Club Resort Properties include Marriott's Phuket Beach Club, Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club, Marriott's Grand Chateau®, Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club, Marriott's Mai Khao Beach – Phuket, and Marriott Vacation Club® at The Empire Place©.

Express Breaks is a great way to supplement your membership if you've already used your Club Points but desire an additional holiday, or if you're seeking a last-minute getaway. You can also use Express Breaks to extend a Club Points reservation or purchase an Express Breaks for a friend or guest.

How does Express Breaks work?
To make an Express Breaks reservation, you must keep in mind the following:

  • Reservations must be made 14 days or fewer before check-in (7 days for an unaccompanied guest).
  • Reservations must be for 1 – 3 nights and are based on availability.
  • The Express Breaks fee is set at the current maintenance fee rate per point multiplied by the number of Club Points required for each night.

Can you give me an example?
Sure! Let's say you'd like to reserve an Express Breaks stay at Marriott's Mai Khao Beach – Phuket that requires 1,050 Club Points. The Express Breaks fee would be the number of Club Points required multiplied by the maintenance fee rate per point:

230 + 410 + 410 = 1,050 (Club Points total)
Express Breaks fee = 1,050 x US$0.3515 (2016 maintenance fee) = US$369.08

Which Marriott Vacation Club® or Marriott® property has been your favorite to visit? Why?
One of my favorite places I have visited so far is Dalmahoy Marriott Hotel & Country Club in Edinburgh. The hotel concept is very interesting with a manor house architectural design. It is at the outskirt of the city making the environment tranquil and surrounded by beautiful scenery of Scotland. Here you can enjoy activities such as golf, an indoor pool and just relaxing.

Which Marriott Vacation Club® or Marriott® property do you hope to visit in the future? Why?
I hope to visit one of our 6 Club Resorts Properties, Waiohai Beach Club on Kauai Island. I really like Hawaii's culture and weather! I love nature and would like my next vacation to be an adventurous one, full of outdoor and water activities.

What has been your favorite holiday to plan for Members? Why?
My favorite holiday to have planned for our Members was the year end trip for a family to Marriott's Phuket Beach Club! They were looking forward to events offered such as the Gala dinner, kid's New Year activities and the fireworks. I helped to check in advance all the year-end events offered. They were very thrilled when they received all the details. Their excitement for the upcoming trip also made me very happy!

Europe's Christmas Markets

Are you embarking on the Classic Christmas Markets guided group tour — or considering exploring Europe's alpine cities on your own? Here are a few tips for making the most of your holiday:

  • Do research ahead of time to figure out which markets are must-sees for you, and which ones you don't mind missing.
  • Bring your walking shoes and warm layers, so you can stay comfortable while you're perusing the markets and exploring historic, pedestrian-friendly towns.
  • Don't forget to bring a European plug adapter for your electronics, and a converter if necessary.
  • While some market vendors take credit cards, it's more convenient to have some cash with you.
  • Book your flights well in advance, and if you're planning your trip around the Christmas markets, keep in mind that they normally take place in the month leading up to the holiday.
  • At the German markets, order a hot drink in a specially designed mug. You can return the mug to get back a ℠all deposit of a few euros, or keep it for a great souvenir.
