St. Thomas Recovery Updates

We hope that the new year brings many vacation memories to you and your family. To help you with your vacation planning efforts, we wanted to share the most recent update on the restoration and anticipated reopening of Marriott's Frenchman's Cove.
Resort Reopening
We have been striving to have the property restored to pre-storm conditions prior to welcoming our first Owners and guests back. The resort is currently scheduled to reopen on February 16, 2018, with some resort amenities opening later. Please note that not all villas will be available for immediate guest occupancy, as the resort team is still completing restoration work in a few remaining villas. At this time, we anticipate that resort amenities available upon reopening will include the swimming pool, Marketplace, check-in services and the kids' activities center. We are also happy to report that the pool bar and grill will be open as they were prior to the hurricanes.
Ongoing Restoration Efforts
Because we have not received government approval to bring new sand onto the resort, the beach has not been fully restored to its former splendor. However, Owners and guests will still be able to gain access to the water. There will be temporary public space lighting around the property for some time. The permanent lighting is on the way, but has not cleared the port yet. The passenger elevator that brings guests from the front of Building 1 to and from the pool (pool & health club elevator) has not been replaced yet due to long lead times on the required custom production. Therefore, a temporary solution has been created utilizing the service elevator with the stairs as a secondary option.
Also, Owners and guests will see some construction activity occurring around the resort property, including façade painting, elevator repair, landscape work and general debris removal. Our resort team is committed to minimizing the impact of these recovery efforts on your stay, but we want you to be fully aware that they will be present.
Local Amenities
The Frenchman's Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort is not expected to reopen until late 2019, and use of the hotel amenities will not be an option for your enjoyment.
Island Updates
St. Thomas continues to go through a lengthy recovery process. Many restaurants and shops have reopened for business, and much of the island's foliage has made an incredible recovery. Sand and palm trees have been brought to Magens Beach, which will allow for a lovely beach experience. Multiple agencies and organizations have come together to restore St. Thomas, and progress updates are posted regularly by local officials.
