As of the 2012 tax roll published in July 2013, there were several parcels missing from the tax roll.
MVW's Property Tax team has been in contact with the Assessor's office on many occasions regarding the missing parcels and has provided the Assessor's Office with a spreadsheet containing deed information to assist with identifying and updating the missing parcels.
To bring the property taxes current, we anticipate the USVI will bill for all back taxes for each missing parcel. The back taxes should not include penalties or interest since this was an oversight of the USVI. It is our understanding that most of the missing parcels will be added to the 2013 tax roll, but at this time, we are unable to confirm if, in fact, the missing parcels have been added.
If your interest or week is not listed, please contact Ms. Sakeena George at Sakeena.George@lgo-vi.gov and request that your parcel be created. You will need to provide her a copy of your deed document number, which is located at the top right corner of your deed. The deed number will be a 10-digit number and look similar to 2010003588. If you cannot locate your deed, please contact Jerry Baxter at Jerry.Baxter@mvwc.com for assistance.
The Assessor's Office will provide us with an electronic file of the tax roll at which time we will review to determine if there are still parcels missing. If such is the case, we will follow-up with the Assessor's office accordingly.
Missing parcels are a common issue in the USVI for similar industries as well and is currently being addressed with the assistance of ARDA, our timeshare industry association.
